Making the right decision would be easier if you do what everyone recommends that you do: “GET THREE ESTIMATES”. What takes work is doing research to narrow the field to three. I got a solid recommendation to Cactus Mechanical from a good friend. A search using AI narrowed down the field to a second solid choice. Third was a “Big Box” with the instore displays. The first interview was with Cactus Mechanical. A well-established company with many excellent online reviews. This was a referral from a good friend who actually bought from them. Gary was straight forward, answered our questions, got on the roof, removed a panel from the old unit to inspect and be certain that his install would not have any problems. He removed the air return panel to check the size, and he checked the wiring of the thermostat. He was very thorough. He reviewed the 10yr parts and labor warranty that we could pay extra for. He then produced an estimate before leaving. The second interview: A family owned business with a very professional website. The salesman brought in a very thick, slick presentation book with well-produced photos and price comparisons, answered our questions, then got on the roof to only take photos. It concerned us when he told us that our roof may have to be cut into and they may have to go into the attic. They wouldn’t know until the day of installation. An estimate was e-mailed to us that day without the roof or attic work added if needed. It was much higher than the average cost we had researched. The third interview: A well-dressed salesman from the “Big Box” company that hires another HV/AC company to install their units. The salesperson was knowledgeable and answered all our questions but also told us they may have to get into the attic and may have to cut into the roof to accommodate the new units “flow direction”. He got on the roof and only took photos. We received the estimate by email that afternoon. It was higher than our researched average. Now the hard part; deciding on which company to use. Choose the privately owned, well produced sales presentation with good reviews and the most expensive quote? Or choose the “Big Box” company that uses a different HV/AC company to install the units - with many “incentives” and discounts later, but the upfront cost was very high? Or…Cactus Mechanical. We chose Gary and Cactus Mechanical because of our friend’s referral, a better price, very good history and reviews, good product uses their own employee installers and Gary’s thoroughness of his inspection. He also did NOT try to upsell us. We had Gary out again for more questions about the roof cutting and attic. He explained why he was confident that it did not require cutting the roof. Cactus Mechanical’s installation went smoothly and was finished by noon. We also bought the 10 year parts and Labor warranty. The other companies did not offer a 10 year LABOR warranty. I highly recommend them.

Had an emergency with our thermostat not working. Made a late appointment and was able to be seen. Pete was great and very professional. Fixed the issue quickly and had cool air again. Would highly recommend Cactus Mechanical. Thanks for all your help!

Gray was professional, personable, and very knowledgeable. My property manager sent him to troubleshoot an A/C duct issue and he was quick to find the problem, and provide a partial fix on the spot, with a recommendation to the property manager on the secondary issue of displaced cooling in the addition on the property. Very efficient and would highly recommend!

Jerome was simply outstanding! Very meticulous, very neat, and very professional. I was so pleased with his effort and work I offered him $20 so I could buy him lunch.
